BATTLE SCARS

On Wednesday morning I had knee surgery. Here's the story. In high school I was very athletic. I was on the dance team and ran cross country. I always had pain in my left knee, but always thought it was a minor injury. I usually just wrapped it or iced it.While still in high school I was at the store and bent down to the bottom shelf to reach for something. As I bent, my left knee slid completely out of place. I grabbed my knee and was just screaming and crying. You can imagine the people around me probably thinking, what the heck? I eventually slid in back in place. It was the worst pain. Still after that I never had it checked by the doctor....until right before I got preggo with Jessie. I went to the doctor because off and on from high school I would have this pain in my knee. My family practitioner had me get exrays. He swore I had been walking around with a torn ACL. Once my dad heard that I would probably be getting knee surgery to repair my ACL he had me to go the doctor that replaced his two hips, Dr. Tingey. I had MRI's done and they found that I had not torn my ACL, but had a Ganglion cist behind my ACL. But once Dr. Tingey went in for the surgery he did find a minor tear, but thought that removing the cist, the ligament would heal on it's own. Dr. Tingey did great. I don't know if any of you know who he is, but he honestly looks like he is 18 years old. I remember seeing him for the first time after my dad got his hip surgery and thought, "What the heck, how old is this kid, that just operated on my dad?" It reminded me of that movie Catch Me If You Can. Regardless of how old he looks or even is, he is such a great doctor and he did a wonderful job!!! Thanks Dr. Tingey!

Before the surgery the nurses had me write "yes" on the knee they were operating on and "no" on the knee not to touch. That was funny to me and it obviously meant it has happened before. What a nightmare that would be. Wake up in pain and realize it was the wrong limb. Yikes!

They only had to drill two little holes so the scars will be nothing. I'm happy about that. My mom was a life saver. She cooked, cleaned and played with girls. She let me just sit on my bum and relax! Thanks mom! Love ya!!!

They knocked me completely out for the surgery! It was great! I was joking with nurses telling them I have two kids and I was ready for a nice nap! It is the craziest thing going under! They put the medicine in me and I was thinking ok, it's not working and the next thing I know I was waking up. I guess, when I woke up, I kept trying to get out of the bed. They had to keep telling me to lie down. Then they said that I kept pulling off my blanket and looked at my bandage like 20 times. I vaguely remember all this, but not really.

I'm doing well and will be back on my feet in no time. Thanks for all the phone calls! I love my friends!

RAINDROPS KEEP FALLIN ON MY HEAD

Excuse this rant for a second and just go with me on this one...

I woke up this morning in such a great mood, despite the fact that I was up until 1 in the morning finishing the sequal to Twilight, "New Moon"...AMAZING, let's just say...but anyways..I opened the curtains to our living room and it was dark and gray outside. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rain. I love it when it's gray and I don't have to strain my eyes against the sun. The rain always puts me in a good mood. Maybe it's the change that I like. A change from the draining heat. A change in the same blue sky that we see everyday. I don't know how to explain it, but Justin thinks I'm crazy. He likes the rain, but he loves bright sunny days. They really just give me headaches. We need rain more often. Maybe it's not the rain that I love so much as just the gray, ominous skies. I love the smell of rain. I love walking outside and the air has the smell of fresh rain. There is nothing better than that. This weather makes me want to sit on my sad excuse for a porch, bringing with me a comfy chair, wrap a blanket around me, grab a great book, and top it all off with a cup of hot chocolate. MMMMMM. Isn't the sound of rain hitting the ground so soothing? It takes away from the silence of the monotonous days of sun and the unrelenting heat. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate sunny days, but when that's all we get here, the change is definitely welcoming.

A couple of posts ago I recommended the book Twilight. Well the sequel is just as amazing. I can't wait for the third one to come out in August. It is sad, but I read the book in one and a half days. I just couldn't put it down. It kind of makes me sad because now I'm done. I love stopping in the middle of a book giving me time to eat and play with my kids and give my hubby some attention. But, I love the excitement of getting back to where I left off. But since I finished to quickly I have nothing to look forward in the book today. Oh well. The third book will be out next month and I will be able to revisit my fantasy of beautiful vampires and protecting warewolves. It should be great! I know Kim is the only one appreciating this part of my post, but that's okay. Kim, I finished the book last night and got up this morning and re-read the chapter when Edward comes back and tells Bella he loves her and will never leave her again. It is just so great!

Well, thanks for letting me rant!

Twilight - Perfect Summer Reading

Ok...My friend Kim got me hooked on this book. Twilight. I guess it is the "IT" book to be reading right now. Even Justin's mom has heard of it and has been wanting to read it. Not that she is not cool, because YOU ARE NETTE :) But I'm just sayin.... Has anybody else read this? What do you think? I'm not done yet- about half way through. But it such a great love story and even involves some really "interesting" characters. Your right Kim- I totally want nothing more than to be a vampire ;) I love reading but, the book has to be really good right at first for me to keep my interest, but this book caught my attention and has held it! If you have not read this book...I challenge all my friends to read it and tell me what you think. Kerri, this book is right up your alley! It is written by an LDS author, but is not an LDS book and no LDs characters. But it is refreshing to have such a good book without swear words or racy love scenes. I always hated getting into a good book and out pops the "F Bomb". Anywho....read it.

The Good Old Days - Barney Family

I am knee deep in a project restoring old pictures of my grandparents and I am just loving it. I love how pictures back in the 40's and 50's looked. So simple yet told the whole story. I am really having fun and thought you might like to take the trip back with me. This is my mother's side. Her parents are Mae and Kay Barney. They really are amazing. They have been on like four or five missions and they truly are saints. Such great examples of how I want to live my life. They have endured losing 3 children yet continue to know and share with others the importance of the Plan of Salvation.

Utah Trip

Last week Justin's mom, myself and the girls went up to Salt Lake. We had a blast. We went to the Hoggle Zoo in Salt Lake, we went to a freezing lake in Provo Canyon, and we went to a huge barbque the day before the 4th (that's when Bountiful celebrates Independence Day, I guess) We had a lot of fun with family and wish Justin could have been there. Below are some slides if where we went and what we did. IT was great to get away.

This is our trip to Deer Lake in Provo Canyon.

Zoo Time!
